Manchester Museum houses a varied and impressive arrangement
of Egyptian Artifacts. In my opinion the display method of the
several mummies in the collection is poor, as they lie with their
feet towards the front on a fairly flat surface. The exhibit
of the funeral goods from 'The Tomb of the Two Brothers' is well
worth a visit. This was a complete burial and so contains a better
variety of objects.
Also of note in the collection are various fragments of carvings
from Akhetaten.
A great deal of information is on display concerning the Manchester
Mummy Project. This makes for informative and enlightening reading,
and the objects on display illustrate well the research carried
out |

The museum in Stockport is primarily devoted to local
history, but it does house a Mummified hand, which is quite famous
locally. In addition there are a few little bits and pieces,
Shabtis and fragments of pots etc.
The downstairs gallery at this museum was recently refurbished,
and the new display was imaginatively advertised as 'The return
of the mummy's hand'. |
