Macclesfield's West Park museum is a fine example of how interesting
Egyptian collections can be found in unexpected places.
This is a surprising little museum housed in a fairly small brick
building in one corner of Macclesfield's West Park. The contents
were donated by the Brocklehurst family and include a complete
cartonnage mummy case as well as an interesting display of every
day objects.
In addition to the family's collection of Egyptian antiquities,
the museum also contains a Panda which is labelled, in a very
19th century way, as one of the largest ever shot. |
