Another of the highlights of the Luxor
Museum is the modern bright gallery where statues from the
Luxor temple Cachette are on display. Over a period of years
most of the space inside the temple where pious nobles could
place their statues became used up, so to alleviate this problem
the priests took several of the existing statues and buried them
within the temple precincts. This had the double advantage of
clearing space for new offerings, and also preserving the sculpture
in near perfect condition.
